How to Write a Technical Approach

Writing a technical approach is challenging.  Here is a simple "roadmap" to guide you through the process.

Step 1: Understand the Technical Approach
A technical approach is a plan that explains how you will provide the required technical services. It outlines your strategies, methods, and resources.

Step 2: Read the Requirements
Carefully read and understand the contract requirements. Identify key tasks, deliverables, and objectives.

Step 3: Define Your Solution
Think about how you will approach the project and come up with a solution. Consider what services you'll provide, how you'll deliver them, and what tools you'll use.

Step 4: Outline Your Plan
Create an outline for your technical approach using the following structure:
  1. Introduction: Briefly introduce your company and qualifications.
  2. Understanding the Requirements: Explain your understanding of the technical requirements.
  3. Proposed Solution: Describe your solution, including tasks, milestones, roles, and timeframe.
  4. Methodologies and Approaches: Explain the methodologies or frameworks you'll use.
  5. Resources and Tools: Describe the resources, skills, and technologies you'll utilize.
  6. Quality Control and Performance Management: Explain how you'll ensure quality and measure performance.
  7. Risk Management: Discuss how you'll identify and mitigate risks.
  8. Communication and Collaboration: Describe how you'll communicate and collaborate.
  9. Project Schedule: Provide a high-level timeline with milestones.
  10. Conclusion: Summarize your approach and explain why it's the best fit.

Step 5: Review and Edit
Carefully review and revise your approach for clarity and coherence.

Step 6: Seek Feedback

Get input from colleagues or supervisors to improve your approach.

Step 7: Finalize and Submit
Make any necessary revisions and submit your approach along with your proposal.

Remember to adapt these instructions to fit the specific requirements of your solicitation. Good luck with your proposal!
